Stop using reCaptcha!

Because it's IMPOSIBLE to login from China now!
Why? Almost everything of Google is blocked by GFW, including reCaptcher script. When I use my VPN, it says "your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now. For more details visit our help page." This actually makes sense, because a VPN server may be used by many people at the same time, a lot of requests are sent via it, and this easily triggers reCaptcher's anti-machine mechanism.
So you see, when it's happening, there's no any method to login iwara, no f*cking way! This has happened many times, and it's happening now! For two days till now!

So why can I login to complain now? Because I'm using my tablet with which I logged in days ago. Now I can't login with my laptop. So days later when my cookie loses efficacy, I'll be completely disconnected with this site. I believe I'm not the only one who suffers from this shit in China.

BTW, the keycaptcha used days ago works fine, why did you abandoned it?

Key captcha was turned off because the servers for it went down, therefore nobody could log in. Not just China.

If you have alternatives, feel free to tell us.

Like the admin said, servers are down, so please wait.

Glad to hear that it's just a server problem. I thought Keycaptcha was abandoned because it doesn't work well enough so you'll never use it again, which really scares me.
I do know a captcher service in China but I guess you won't be interested, since they even don't have an english homepage.

I can't really just go back to keycaptcha at this point. It's too risky.

Can you imagine if this happens AGAIN without warning, and I find myself having been logged out?
We were all lucky that I was still logged in when we found out it broke, or else nobody would still be able to log in. Not even me.

well the internet is not only google networks. maybe we should stop demonize it as "darknet" and start building a real alternative network with strong servers on it. because this capcha is a google thing

Yeah the reCaptcha is being annoying as hell. Yesterday I tried log in again and it failed many times even through I got the answers right. Not to mention that the damn images are very slow to load.

This site need more secure login with use of internet cookies and best browser to use when using this site. Not sure why this site uses a lot of internet data when downloading a video while watching it.

Hm, really interesting. For me, logging in always works. Greetings from Germany.

I can't remember if I may have brought this up in another topic or not, but how effective would it be to simply limit the amount of posting and uploading new posters and uploaders can do within a certain time period, rather than specifically relying on a captcha-based system? I know that some forums, for instance, will generally limit how much posting new accounts can do and require the first handful of posts to be approved before they show up, and as far as I can tell it seems to be a pretty effective strategy.
Would an approach like that be sufficient in protecting the site from bot spam? Or are there other factors in play that would prevent this idea from being workable?
As an aside, if we went this route it would also have the added benefit of killing off this recent trend of new users ignoring the rule about not uploading a bunch of videos at once.

I wonder whether a normal number captcher built in back-end CMS works good? Is it too weak to stop bots? Or the CMS being used doesn't have a captcher feature?

Recaptcha reverse proxy setup to defeat Chinese blocking. This may be useful?

Why is there even a need for captcha to login? I get why captcha is necessary for creating a new account, but what's the point of having it on every login sessions too? I don't think I ever saw any other site doing this.
