Need help with exporting meshes in materials from Blender to PMX

In case anyone had experience working with Blender, please help me

I have a few separate meshes that take the form of different parts of the model: hair, face, etc.. The problem is - I'm using mmd tools for exporting, but it exports as a whole united model. I've been creating a model, attaching all meshes to the created bone and even pressing the "separate by materials" button

How do I export the meshes separately? How do modelers do that? The materials in PMX need to be separated because alternatively it would be impossible to rig and create facials properly.

Never tried it but by how the MMD tools work, I think it should export 1 pmx per root empty (the outermost object in the outliner that has the PMX filename). Separating model into parts per PMX should work like this.

  • Un-parent the mesh
  • Separate it into objects
  • Duplicate the model's root empty (Check everything in MMD Display and Select Hierarchy first or it will duplicate only the empty, or everything but hidden child objects.)
  • Parent each part into each copy of the armatures (Ctrl + P > Armature Deform)

I also think rigid bodies and joints need to be organized the same way too, but it may be easier just to remove the excessive ones on each part in each root empty copy, combined with other stuff like Bone/Morph Display and excessive bones.

For clarification, the common object hierarchy for a model imported with the MMD Tools is something like...

- Root (Empty)
- - - - - Armature (Bones)
- - - - - - - - - Mesh #1
- - - - - - - - - Mesh #2
- - - - - - - - - ...
- - - - - Rigid Body Parent (Empty)
- - - - - - - - - Rigid Body #1
- - - - - - - - - Rigid Body #2
- - - - - - - - - ...
- - - - - Joint Parent (Empty)
- - - - - - - - - Joint #1
- - - - - - - - - Joint #2
- - - - - - - - - ...

If you are using MMDTools then hide ( click on the eye icon ) all the meshes you don't want to export and at the export window check the "visible meshes only" box, if the entire model is one mesh then select the part that you want to export and press "P" to make you selection a separate object/mesh and do what I said before.
