IMPORTANT! Upcoming changes to the rules

It's been a few years since the last iteration of the site rules, and therefore an update is in the works.

This update may be previewed here: https://pastebin.com/6pZpnwrr (last update, 1/15/20)
Sorry that it's in unparsed format :)

Please feel free to comment here about these changes, or if you think any should be changed/added.
Please note that this is not the final version that will be released.

Well, regarding youtube videos, they really have nothing to do in the ecchi category. Most of them are standard and do not have nudity, i don't understand why people spread them in the ecchi category. And the function of private video, as for me superfluous, i noticed recently a lot of people abuse this function in the ecchi category. And it seems that every 3 new videos exactly private.

2020-01-16 07:34

People see Ecchi side always has a larger audience than General thats why. When people see private tag they get nosey wanting to see why its hidden behind a private wall and ask for friend to see them

2020-01-16 07:50

I would say ban any attempt to use youtube linking, most of the videos end up getting taken down
to add more to this, youtube's algorithm isn't really trust worthy overall and might end up causing issues

Regarding low quality video posting with advertisement for High quality:
Why not just have them post a standard quality and don't bother linking? it is still somewhat advertising "pay $/yen to see a better looking picture"

- "Posting Images or videos for a model to be downloaded after payment received" <-- can something be done about this? If people are going to be sharing their work or models, they need to post the model for free or be out

-Please add report button to the video/page when possible: easier to report when unnecessary "stuff" gets posted would help those who don't follow the rules

I thank you for your hard work, please keep going at it, I have been around a little bit before Iwara had to change host servers because of "laws"
I didn't think this place would be another web home ^^;

CMIIW,upload a very low res video,like 360p or less,and have a link to external highres video which is paid to view,is NOT allowed.You must at least have a 720p or higher resolution video on this site,right?
I can use english but these long texts sometimes makes me confused...

I have seen tons of accounts using similar names,you can tell those are the same person.If you banned one account or one IP of his may not hurt him much,and he can always use vpn or SS to use a diffrent IP to apply more.Using similar name can tell people it is him again,but it may not be appropriate to ban someone because of his username.How to manage these guys?

2020-01-16 08:53

I hope that such users will be banned to post the pictures of real children. This is prohibited in many countries and could lead to the entire page being blocked in these countries.

I think tips under the box in uploading page should be updated along with the update of offensive content.

"Youtube video is no longer allowed on ECCHI domain!"
No, no, NO... please!? I have two such videos:
https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/loa7gtb4dcwqqm1a
https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/rq83vcvj6fozvmpb
Aren't these two videos allowed to exist anymore at Iwara, banned on the ecchi side, and far too ecchi subtitles for the general side?

There are plenty of YouTube channels with all out ecchi content, just look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vhhs3LCnQnk . Ecchi YouTube channels with only male Japanese viewers tend to survive for years, because those viewers won't ever flag the videos, and ONLY flagged videos were removed by YouTube (until recently). For example, this footage is still uploaded at YouTube after 9 years: https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/gkzvbugegflmajvg (but I won't tell you where because I want to protect that channel). So please don't assume that all YouTube videos are non-ecchi simply because YouTube doesn't allow ecchi videos.

+++++++++

"Allow at least 5 videos to be posted after yours before uploading another."
No, no... please!? My habit is to upload:
1. No videos for months
2. Two videos within seconds
3. No videos for further months
Is this habit of mine a really a nuisance at Iwara?

I uploaded these two videos within seconds:
https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/rr95ofvj6fo3l1qj
https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/60lg2tkd6fo3yk2l
and these two videos within one minute:
https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/6ex4wtkd6fj6z64l
https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/o9zpytyp7cqynya6
and these two videos within six minutes:
https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/o86xvcegpfnbkvwp
https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/9g9qytabjfro4m9q

In the future, please please allow two video uploads within seconds, if nothing else is uploaded within one (or more) months before and after?

2020-01-16 23:20

>Aren't these two videos allowed to exist anymore at Iwara
no, get over it
>Is this habit of mine a really a nuisance at Iwara?
this is not a new rule, you're being selfish/dramatic, if no one gives a dam if you post once a month, no one will give a dam if you post your other video the next day. unless you want dnn post shit non stop again.

hope the new rules will help with patreon, everyone here e-begging and doing scam level marketing brings down interest in watching videos.

LOL Guthix Showing his love for me again kiss kiss. Any video from youtube should only be put on general side because they will be removed if Nude. Guthix had a few decent r18 on youtube and some petty someone reported him and they were removed making Guthix more bitchy than normal

As you can see Guthix just loves to start trouble with me and this forum is not for starting petty arguments

2020-01-17 01:38

@goishikaigan mademou

This is just my two cents, but feel free to disagree with me:

1. From what I skimmed in your videos, they really aren't worth putting in the ecchi side of Iwara. Granted, they're not really gonna get views on the General side, but you're not gonna get much anyways without actual R-18 bits.
2. That channel steals videos and re-uploads them. It's not the first channel to do this, it's not the last to do this. The channel itself hasn't even been around that long and will likely get removed for violating Youtube's ToS in the future. Most R-18 MMD uploaders on Youtube only make it a few months max. That one is a small outlier, but it won't live ultimately. The other channel has all those videos unlisted so it's pretty hard to find them in the first place, but even unlisted videos can still break the ToS and can be removed. Just upload it directly to Iwara if you want it to be on here.
3. If you can go months without uploading a video, waiting a couple hours in between uploading two videos won't kill you. Iwara gets a pretty steady flow of videos that you're not stuck waiting too long for a measly 5 videos from others to be uploaded.

"Links to Download files MUST be from one of the following providers: MEGA, Google Drive, Zippyshare, tstorage, torrent downloads."

That's a very peculiar rule to add. Why only those sites? That to me seems very narrow and could possibly lead to serious problems for users who may be used to using other services. Perhaps a whitelist of recommended sites would be more suitable.

"Multiple versions of the same video are no longer allowed. Pick one, and offer the rest elsewhere."

This one to me seems a bit excessive. What prompted this? Are server costs starting to become a greater concern?

Aside from those two caveats I have zero complaints.

EDIT: One thing I should ask, are these rules going to be applied ex post facto? Or will videos that were uploaded before the rule updates be exempted? Because I can think of a least a few accounts with videos I would want to comb through and grab if it's the former case.

2020-01-17 11:14

Judging from how few people actually enforce the current rules, I don't think changing them will help much since it seems not many users here know the rules thread exists in the first place, let alone reading it. Perhaps a modal in the upload page will help?

And Chinese translation too, because there are tons of their videos as of late.

2020-01-17 04:27

Videos need a report button tbh. Sends a message automatically to an admin. On a single page there's probably a handful of videos that break rules at any given time and it's not efficient to send a message for every single one.

And I agree with the Chinese translation being needed, half the videos are just 360p ads for afdian. If they aren't getting banned then at least make them aware of the rules

2020-01-17 05:06

@Segar
- "Posting Images or videos for a model to be downloaded after payment received"
->While I DO believe people have every right to sell models they make (legality isn't my concern), we don't have support for this. Any posts that are purely an ad to sell something are not allowed.
@Segar (and others)
-"Please add report button to the video/page when possible"
->I do not have any way of doing this currently.

@0A0
-"upload a very low res video,like 360p or less,and have a link to external highres video which is paid to view"
->This is not allowed, and never has been. I'm merely attempting to further explain what is not allowed with this update.

-"How to manage these guys?"
->Once they are brought to our attention, we have a few tools to check on them. But nothing is guaranteed. If they are determined, then we just have to keep fighting.

@NESTS
-"I think tips under the box in uploading page should be updated"
->I will look into updating the upload page.

@goishikaigan mademou
-"Aren't these two videos allowed to exist anymore at Iwara, banned on the ecchi side, and far too ecchi subtitles for the general side?"
->Just put youtube video on general side. If it's content they allow then we allow it too. Youtube should not be used for adult content.

-"Is this habit of mine a really a nuisance at Iwara?"
->Just one person? No. But when many people are doing it, it's a problem I get a lot of complaints about. The rule is in place because of the people that take it to more extreme levels.

@LOR流星ガンナー
-"That's a very peculiar rule to add. Why only those sites?"
->These are the sites I know that are not a huge pain to download from. The purpose here is to move away from file hosts that make themselves a pain in the ass to download from, some of which do it to make you want to buy accounts for speed. More hosts can be added if I'm aware of them, which basically makes it a whitelist. I'm open on ideas here.

-"This one to me seems a bit excessive. What prompted this? Are server costs starting to become a greater concern?"
->It may sound excessive, but when I'm seeing so many copies of the same video with merely a character swap, or slight character alteration - it really adds up. Storage space is always a concern.

-"will videos that were uploaded before the rule updates be exempted?"
->It depends on the mods that find them. But I would expect a lot of the rules to be reverse applied on a case by case basis. Depending on how bad the situation is.

@ノッさん【虚無の力】
-"Judging from how few people actually enforce the current rules"
->I have recently added two more website mods, which should help.

-"And Chinese translation too"
->I do now have someone willing to translate for chinese. Something I didn't have before.

2020-01-17 16:28

Admin, if you introduce this rule - I will always be grateful to you, videos on YouTube without R-18 content on the ecchi page are infuriating

2020-01-17 16:39

->It may sound excessive, but when I'm seeing so many copies of the same video with merely a character swap, or slight character alteration - it really adds up. Storage space is always a concern.

Community stability is also a concern, however. I've seen it happen more times than I can count where a community that was once thriving ended up tearing itself apart because the upper management got a little too overzealous about what they wanted to allow on their site. I'm looking through various accounts of creators I enjoy and quite a few of them here would end up getting swept up by this rule.

shachi_9999, for instance, has both a male-focused and female-focused version of each of his videos. きいろ まる does both undressing and naked throughout versions of his videos, but both versions have a unique charm. darakutei's videos are top notch in quality, but some of his videos are character swaps and would nonetheless run afoul of the new rule. Numerous other accounts have versions with certain caveats added or removed.

And even though like you say "storage space is always a concern" it's also a concern for the creators. If they have to move some of their material offsite then that's more storage space that they'll have to foot the bill for instead. How will they respond to such changes? Will they start using other sites like pornhub instead? Will they start putting more of their content behind a paywall to make up for the difference? What if a creator who's been away for a while comes back only to find out some of his material is gone due to the new rules? Are accounts going to get banned if they had too many alternate versions?

This isn't even a complete list of hypothetical issues I can think of. And again, most of these changes are fine since they're aimed at enforcing quality standards. But the "no multiple versions" rule is extremely broad and has the potential to cause serious problems for the overall health of the community as a whole if it isn't revised to be less stringent.

Is it true that the general side advertisers pay better than those on the ecchi side, so Iwara earns most of its revenue on the general side?

What is Iwara's top priority for borderline content?
* To offer the paying advertisers nothing but family friendly videos on the general side?
* To offer the non-paying porn-loving viewers nothing but nudity videos on the ecchi side?
Below are two samles of borderline content.

Non-nude methamphetamine themed MMD videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DOvOUodmtM&list=PLZ5Xbs4kyolTXxlkmPNhZS... (I always giggle when I see squishy_eringe's vocaloid crew in that sofa...)

2020-01-19 17:37

@LOR流星ガンナー
-"If they have to move some of their material offsite then that's more storage space that they'll have to foot the bill for instead."
->They would have to make a lot of videos to be able to fill up all the free space other web hosts provide. This isn't something I'm going to back-enforce. Either way, most people that do multiple version are also in violation of the existing rule for upload rate. If there is really that much backlash over this one, then it can be reconsidered.

@goishikaigan mademou
-"Is it true that the general side advertisers pay better than those on the ecchi side, so Iwara earns most of its revenue on the general side?"
->Yes it is true that they pay more overall. But it's not true for us since they refuse to work with Iwara.

-"What is Iwara's top priority for borderline content?"
->I think general is going to end up getting rebranded to reflect R15 status. But not right now.

2020-01-19 22:23

>But it's not true for us since they refuse to work with Iwara.
>I think general is going to end up getting rebranded to reflect R15 status.

or you could... you know... admit it was a bad idea, stop splitting the community and scrap it entirely.

2020-01-20 08:34

-1 on ''Multiple versions of the same video are no longer allowed. Pick one, and offer the rest elsewhere'', I agree with LOR流星ガンナー on this, I think this is a really bad idea.

''Youtube video is no longer allowed on ECCHI domain''

I do understand why you'd want to implement such a rule considering there a ton of dead Youtube videos and I think this is for the best in the long term but goishikaigan mademou's argument makes sense too, what will happen to the existing Youtube videos? Maybe add some grace period where the existing Youtube videos could be uploaded to Iwara directly by author himself before deleting them? I might be misunderstanding the issue here though, if yes feel free to correct me.

2020-01-20 12:24

2 versions per video/song should suffice. Also maybe looking into a number limit for private videos.

2020-01-31 09:22

Iwara allows superior sound quality, 320 kbit/s AAC super-HiFi, (or even 1500 kbit/s lossless if the uploader is able encode it). YouTube slashed the sound quality of new HD uploads from AAC 192 kbit/s HiFi to 126 kbit/s LoFi on March 28th 2016.

Here is the same song with:
128 kbit/s LoFi at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWMWvlzsPZE
322 kbit/s HiFi at Iwara: https://www.iwara.tv/videos/mz2owh9l7f8zwvg4
Can you hear the difference?

This is why I've put links to Iwara's general side in my YouTube song video descriptions. My please-chose-HiFi links are trying to lure my viewers
from here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ5Xbs4kyolRBP7ycBZu5h1ak_bsZNdHy
to here: https://www.iwara.tv/users/goishikaigan%20mademou/videos .

+++++++++

And here is what YouTube Help says about this: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2887282?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=925...

"Links on your YouTube Content to external websites that include pornography, malware or other content that doesn't meet our Community Guidelines are not allowed on YouTube... Violations can result in card or link removal, strikes and/or termination of your Google Account."

And https://ecchi.iwara.tv and https://www.iwara.tv/ looks like two different web addresses, and thus (almost) two different web sites (maybe?).

++++++++++

About the general side:

1. Please allow general side uploaders to select an option: "hide the red ecchi button in this video" (to avoid YouTube strikes on links)?
2. Please aim to make the general side all-out family friendly (with dancing in normal beach bikinis but nothing worse)?
3. Please give general side viewers a flag button: "move this content to the ecchi side", (in order to effortlessly clean the general side)?
4. Please make new efforts to attract well-paying family friendly advertisers to the general side (for the sake of Iwara's longterm survival)?

The non-paying porn-lovers would obviously be annoyed by more non-nude content on the ecchi side. But non-paying equals non-influence and only family friendly advertisers pay good money for ads.

The hiding of the red ecchi button could be implemented simply with a second colour option: Black text on a black button on black background would be invisible unless you drag your mouse over it.

Because there's enough to play and no one's watching, I should have the right to be private【I can't speak English. This is translation software】

2020-01-30 00:24

@艺姬 Argent丶Master
We don't allow patron-only content to be hosted on Iwara.

2020-02-08 20:33
2020-02-04 02:31

Administrator master, is it possible to give a button to agree with a friend's application? Too many friends apply, one by one is tired

2020-02-07 15:57

New question is when will these rules be implemented? There are so many 360p paid mmd posters that need to go

@艺姬 Argent丶Master why do you need to make videos private if nobody watches them? If nobody watches them why not just delete them? Obviously you just want people to pay to watch it...
