Anybody else ever do this?

Did any of you find a motion for a dance you thought looked good, but hated the music it played with? And so you found a better song that would fit okay with it or modified the motion to fit better? I've done that with a couple recent videos. But the Sword Dance video I did not because I hated the original song, but because I couldn't figure out the original song (I've had the motion for a while before putting it to use). And I know some motions are known to fit really well with other songs; like "Elect" with some "This Is Halloween" remix and how Cascada's "Last Christmas" fits well with a different motion.
I hate rap and hip-hop as well as most mainstream-pop. But I figured I could find a better song that could fit better or I could modify the motion to fit better, so I might experiment with some motions in the future.

I'm just curious to see if the thought of that method has ever crossed anybody else's minds and what everybody else's thoughts about it are.

I had a similar conundrum way back when, but it was the issue of the motion being shorter, than the audio. I inserted another motion, but it was godawful, so I tried to compensate by making the camera follow the music. looking back on it, it looks meh and is illogical. Given the fact that the choreography is usually tied to the beat, it would require you to basically remake the entire motion to make it fit. Looking at your examples, I'm not sure what standards you use, but neither the tune feels like a sword dance and neither the sword swinging through your own body/avatar lightning gesture fit in any way, in comparison of sword dances on YouTube.

TLDR: mismatching audio and visuals is a bad idea.

Users have been using this method for a long time, which is bad if the rhythm matches.
Example
Song Hello Kitty - motion Carry me Off

Song This Is Halloween - motion Elect

Yes i did it.

And i chose the music at my discretion, because i didn't know what music was supposed to be in a particular video.

And many other videos containing sexual movement, where simply do not have their own music.

1. You can replace the mp4 file in any old Iwara upload any number of times even years later. That's why it says "(ver 1.5)" in this video title: https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/w0yozfgkpfyjj796 , and why many of my 2017 videos say "2019 ver" in the title. So please adjust and update any mp4 file you're not satisfied with, replace the old mp4 file at Iwara, and then make a remake trailer pointing at the renewed old URL, like this trailer: https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/aengjimk8h7982ag . (Is a mp4 renewal of your old Sword Dance upload coming soon?)

2. A motion is basically a long row of poses. You can go to the registered frames, save each pose to a separate vpd file, close MMD, open a new empty MMD project, and load the poses one by one at the frames numbers that match the beat of your actual song. That's exactly how I pasted the Fukkireta poses around the Geddan motion here: https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/2k99rikkvfqma01b (not to the beat though, but a 24 frame loop).

3. If your motion is to short, then you can load the motion at a later frame than 0. Just let your model wave and smile until the motion start frame, or let your MMD camera take look at the audience. Or insert a slide show from the locker room? Here is a crude example of MMD footage being to short for the music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcexl2eGBUg&list=PLZ5Xbs4kyolT85BQI8Hyjh...

4. If the length of video doesn't match the length of the song, then you can change the tempo of the song with Audacity to match the video, like this: https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/gkzvbugegflmajvg , or this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCd288wg5iU&list=PLZ5Xbs4kyolTlOiL2Fyo8W...

5. If you have the long version of the song, but the short version of the motion, then you can use MMD's range-select and copy-paste to extend the motion. Look what sort of MMD poses that are going with which lyrics lines in the first verse, and paste the same pose at the same lines of the last verse. If you do so, then will even LipSync be timed correctly, albeit with the wrong vowel shape of the lips sometimes because of different lyrics in each verse. Here is an example of how I used three videos with the short version to patch up a video for the long version of the song: https://ecchi.iwara.tv/videos/vrepysrbdiem5m3w .

6. And yes, I have sinned: The motions are totally out of place for the song in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z5a8cYbGRU&list=PLZ5Xbs4kyolTXxlkmPNhZS... , sorry... :)
